According to media reports: In 2016, the world's millionaires were accelerating their relocation. Last year, a total of 82,000 millionaires completed their migration, an increase of nearly 30% compared to the 64,000 who migrated in 2015.
According to the latest New World Wealth report, as of the end of 2016, there were approximately 13.6 million millionaires worldwide, with a combined wealth of as much as $69 trillion (approximately 480 trillion RMB). The report projects that global wealth will grow by another 35% over the next decade (2016–2026). Countries with the best performance for millionaires are mostly in the Asian region, such as Vietnam, China, India, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka.
In 2016, the United States also attracted 10,000 foreign millionaires, maintaining a high level.
Andrew Amoils, head of New World Wealth, stated: "The inauguration of a new U.S. President will not have a significant impact on millionaire migration. We expect another surge in the net inflow of high-net-worth individuals migrating to the United States to occur in 2017."
Canada also accepted 8,000 millionaire immigrants last year. According to the report, wealthy Chinese prefer to immigrate to Vancouver, while wealthy Europeans prefer Toronto and Montreal.
WorldWay immigration experts point out: The United States and Canada have always been highly favored by Chinese people, especially as top choices for high-net-worth individuals looking to invest and immigrate overseas. Because both are mainstream English-speaking countries with strong national competitiveness, attractive social benefits, livable environments, and overseas investment climates conducive to developing international careers—especially in terms of education, healthcare, retirement, investment environments, and immigration policies—they possess the absolute advantages and appeal of traditional major immigration destinations, thus attracting many Chinese people to compete for study and immigration opportunities.
