Failure to Register Due to Missing Important Information
When registering for EVUS, important information is marked with a red asterisk (*). It is crucial to pay close attention during registration, as these fields must be entered correctly. If the input format is incorrect, the system will provide a prompt in red text below the field. Failure to notice this will result in an unsuccessful registration.
Failure Due to Using an Old Passport After Renewal
If your passport is about to expire and the validity period is less than six months from your planned visit to the United States, you cannot register for EVUS and must apply for a new passport. After obtaining a new passport, you must use the new passport number for registration; using the old passport is not permitted. In the second section, "Does the passport you are using to travel contain your U.S. visa?", if your U.S. visa is in your old passport, you must select "No" and then enter your old passport information.
EVUS Information Does Not Match DS-160 Information
After just receiving a U.S. visa, some individuals fail their EVUS registration. Because many applicants are unclear about how their DS-160 form was filled out, some basic information provided during EVUS registration may not match the information on the DS-160 form. While basic information generally does not change in the short term, if the system determines that the information does not match, it may lead to a failed registration!
Failure to Register After Replacing a Lost Passport
When you apply for a new passport after losing your old one, your passport's remarks page will be annotated with terms such as "Reissued" or "Lost." Once it is marked as reissued, your old passport becomes invalid, and consequently, the U.S. visa in your old passport also becomes void! If you attempt to register using the newly reissued passport, the registration will fail!
What to do if EVUS registration fails because the passport status is "Lost or Stolen"?
The U.S. Embassy Visa Section responds: Since your passport has been reported lost, the U.S. visa in the old passport is no longer valid. You must apply for a new visa using your new passport and then re-register for EVUS.
