In a report on May 4, 2016, Dominica's Minister of Tourism, Robert Tong, revealed that preliminary data shows that during the cruise season from October 2015 to April 2016, there were 165 cruise ships visiting Dominica, with a total of 284,000 visitors, significantly boosting the local tourism economy. Therefore, through Dominica's investment immigration, one can enjoy the beautiful moments in the country while also benefiting from high returns on local investments.
Minister Tong attended the "Dominica Tourism Promotion Month" luncheon on the 4th, stating that during the 2015-16 cruise season, Dominica's cruise tourism faced numerous challenges, including high winds and rough seas that forced some scheduled cruises to change their routes.
Tong also revealed that according to plans, there will be 169 large cruise ships visiting during the 2016-17 cruise season, with an expected number of cruise visitors reaching 31,920.
To enhance services for visitors, the Dominica Ministry of Tourism will implement several measures in the new cruise season, including requiring each tour bus to be equipped with a trained multilingual guide to better introduce local attractions and culture to visitors; strengthening the graded management of tourism operators to ensure guaranteed tourism services for visitors.
