The Rio Olympic flame, ignited in Ancient Olympia on the 21st of this month, traveled from northern to central Greece on the 25th, arriving in the central Greek city of Larissa that evening.
The torch relay that day departed from the northeastern Greek city of Alexandroupoli, passing through towns including Komotini, Xanthi, and Katerini before reaching Larissa. Many Greek athletes, Paralympic athletes, and other prominent social figures participated in the torch relay.
According to the schedule, the Olympic flame will arrive in Athens, the capital of Greece, on the 26th, and will spend the night at the Acropolis Museum in Athens. Ibrahim, a refugee from Syria and a Paralympic athlete, will participate in the torch relay at a refugee reception center in western Athens.
The torch relay within Greece will last for 6 days, covering a total distance of 2235 kilometers, with approximately 450 torchbearers participating in the relay.
After completing the relay within Greece, on April 27th, the flame will be officially handed over to the Rio Olympic Organizing Committee at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, the venue of the first modern Olympic Games.
