Nevada Solar Power Project
【Project Introduction】
The Nevada Solar Power Project is a large-scale solar power plant project built and operated by NextEra Energy Inc. (NYSE: NEE), the world's largest publicly traded wind and solar power company. It is located in Clark County, the most populous area in southern Nevada in the western United States, covering an area of 2,934.5 acres with a power generation capacity of 250 megawatts. The project has received dual support from US government funding and policies. Upon completion, all electricity generated will be transmitted to South California Edison, one of the largest integrated power companies in the United States, and both parties have signed a 20-year power supply agreement.
The Nevada Solar Power Project is the fourth EB-5 power project of NextEra Energy Inc. (NYSE: NEE). It is almost identical to the previous three phases and will continue the success of the previous projects, with performance in job creation and repayment expected to exceed that of the first three phases.
【Project Advantages】
1. Strong Developer (Top 500 Global New Energy Enterprises)
The project's parent company, NextEra Energy Inc. (NYSE: NEE), is a high-quality publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange (with a market capitalization of $82.48 billion in 2015) and is the world's largest wind and solar power company. The company has 13,800 employees worldwide and is also the second-largest public utility company in the United States. It owns two wholly-owned subsidiaries: Florida Power & Light Company, one of the largest power companies in the United States, and NextEra Energy Resources, the world's largest wind and solar power generator. NextEra Energy Inc. (NYSE: NEE) has served over 5 million customers, and the company's 2015 net income reached $2.8 billion (GAAP standard), with total assets of $82.5 billion.
2. Dual Guarantee for Repayment
The project borrower, NextEra Energy Capital Holdings Inc., is rated as an A- stable enterprise by the three major rating agencies. An A- rating means the company has no record of default or overdue payments, ensuring project repayment. In addition, as a dual guarantee, the large, high-quality publicly traded parent company on the New York Stock Exchange, NextEra Energy Inc. (with a 2015 market capitalization of $82.48 billion and cash flow of $7.659 billion), which is also rated as A- stable by the three major rating agencies, has promised to provide a full, unconditional repayment guarantee for the project. Relevant guarantee information has been disclosed on the official website of the US Securities and Exchange Commission. 3. Low Proportion of EB-5 Capital
EB-5 capital accounts for only 12.7% of the project cost, resulting in a low capital risk coefficient. The project party, NextEra Energy Inc. (NYSE: NEE), is strong and well-funded. In addition to EB-5 capital, other project funds (government cash subsidies, senior loans, equity investments) have all been secured.
4. Stable Project Operation
The project has signed a 20-year power supply and sales contract with South California Edison (Fitch rating A-), one of the largest integrated power companies in the United States, and this power purchase agreement has been approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC). Project operation is guaranteed, and operating income can fully cover the repayment of EB-5 capital.
5. Escorted by Top Law Firms
The top US immigration law firm, Miller Mayer, personally oversees the project, serving as legal counsel to ensure the success of investors' applications. For 25 years, Miller Mayer's EB-5 projects and I-829 applications have maintained a 100% approval rate.
6. Strict Capital Supervision Mechanism
Investment funds are only allowed to be released from the escrow account after the EB-5 investor's I-526 or the project's I-924 exemplar application is approved by the immigration authorities. Strict fund release conditions significantly reduce investment risk.
7. Extremely High Employment Multiplier
The project uses the RIMS II employment model to calculate employment. The number of jobs created is 3.1 times the requirement of the immigration authorities, reaching 9,320, of which construction costs alone created 8,485 jobs, which is 2.8 times the requirement of the immigration authorities.
8. Project Already Under Construction
The project has been reviewed and approved by the US Bureau of Land Management, the US Department of Energy, the California Energy Commission, and the California Public Utilities Commission, and has passed the environmental assessment of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The project started construction in May 2014 and is expected to be completed in September 2016, with a construction period of 30 months.
9. Completion Guarantee Provided by NASDAQ Listed Company
The contractor, First Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLR), is a famous giant in the US photovoltaic industry, founded in 1990 and listed on NASDAQ in 2006. The company was named the world's second-largest photovoltaic module manufacturer in 2010 and ranked 6th in Fast Company's list of the world's 50 most innovative companies.
10. Strong Support from Government Funding
The solar energy project is a project strongly supported by the US government. This project has applied for the US Department of the Treasury's 1603 Energy Program support award and has received $250 million in government funding support.
11. Open and Transparent Project Documents
Project information is open and transparent, and relevant documents have been disclosed on the official website of the project's parent company, NextEra Energy Inc. (NYSE: NEE), which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, as well as on relevant government websites.
