According to Guinea Telecom, this project is called the Guinea-Bissau Network Modernization Upgrade Service, with a total investment of approximately 59.7 million US dollars, aimed at restarting Guinetel mobile communication services and restoring the status of the third largest mobile operator in the country.
In 2014, due to a long-term lack of equipment and insufficient network infrastructure, especially in cellular networks, Guinea-Bissau National Telecom was forced to abandon its mobile communication business.
