Ocean Park Hong Kong announced on the 18th that it will adjust its admission ticket prices effective January 1, 2016. The price of an adult ticket will increase by $40 (Hong Kong Dollars, the same below) to $385, and child tickets will increase by $20 to $193, representing an increase of approximately 11.5%.
Hong Kong residents will continue to enjoy original prices until February 29, 2016. The prices for SmartFun Annual Passes will remain unchanged. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities will continue to enjoy free admission.
Ocean Park Chairman Leo Kung Lin-cheng stated that the park needs to cover rising operating expenses, fund initiatives to enhance the visitor experience, and repay commercial loans on schedule. As a non-profit self-financing organization, the park must ensure financial stability while maintaining competitive ticket prices among comparable large-scale theme parks.
In addition, as Ocean Park enters its 39th anniversary, the park will offer special promotions for Hong Kong residents with birthdays in January. Not only can they enjoy free admission on their birthday and the six days following, but they can also purchase tickets for up to four accompanying guests at a 30% discount. Ocean Park is also actively responding to the government's "Appreciate Hong Kong" campaign by providing free admission, transportation, and lunch to 10,000 members of low-income families from this month until May of next year.
