6、Canada will implement a new version of the Permanent Resident Card
According to the official notice from the Canadian immigration department, starting from November 21, Canada will redesign the new version of the Permanent Resident Card (commonly known as the Maple Leaf Card), which will feature more advanced photo details and security features for cardholders.
7、Obama vetoes Keystone XL pipeline
After seven years of delays and debates, U.S. President Obama officially announced on November 6 the veto of the application to construct the Keystone XL pipeline that would cross the U.S.-Canada border. The Keystone XL pipeline is a project proposed by a Canadian oil pipeline company, which planned to invest $8 billion to build a 1,711-mile pipeline from Alberta, Canada, through the Great Plains to refineries in Oklahoma and the Gulf of Mexico. The company stated that this pipeline would provide stable energy to the U.S. and would not significantly impact the environment.
8、Slow progress in Express Entry immigration applications
The federal immigration department launched the Express Entry immigration processing system in January this year. As of December 4, there have been 22 rounds of draws, with nearly 30,000 invitations issued, and about 60% of those invited successfully submitted the required immigration materials. Approximately 46,740 candidates are waiting in the "Talent Pool" for the draw, with over 40% coming from India, while Chinese immigration applicants only account for 6.7%.
9、Future Shop closes down, Target exits Canada
The electronics retail chain Future Shop has closed down, with some stores being integrated into Best Buy. The large department store chain Target, which entered the Canadian market two years ago, has also been operating at a loss and has finally closed all 133 stores across Canada.
10、Alberta Provincial Nominee Program closed; reopens on January 27 next year
The Alberta Immigration Office announced that it will not accept new provincial nomination applications from August 27, 2015, until January 27, 2016. Since Alberta's provincial nominations are not reviewed in the order of application submission, most applicants from early 2014 have not yet received their provincial nominations. This year, the quota for provincial nominations is 5,500, of which 3,200 have been issued, with 9,000 applications still pending review.
Worldway immigration experts state: Looking back at 2015, Canadian immigration policies are still changing, with slow progress in Express Entry immigration applications, uncertain opening times and quotas for provincial nominations, and federal nominations involving language requirements and stricter job and salary level requirements. Therefore, for those who wish to immigrate to Canada quickly, the Manitoba Investment Immigration Program can be chosen, which has low entry asset requirements, a small investment amount, and fast processing speed, with a nomination in 6 months and obtaining status in a year and a half, making it a golden pathway for immigration to Canada.
