First, there are two reasons driving the boom in European investment immigration: one is the Euro exchange rate hitting a 12-year low, and the second is that European countries have opened their doors to investment immigration one after another. Chinese investors can obtain European residency and enjoy European life through the familiar method of buying homes and land.
Many people like the UK, so why not choose to immigrate to the UK directly? There are two ways to invest and immigrate to the UK. One is to apply as a non-EU citizen, investing 2 million pounds in funds or other risky products. Furthermore, you only obtain temporary status and are subject to residency requirements. Now, Chinese investors are choosing another method, known as "curved immigration" to the UK: by making a 2.5 million Euro real estate investment in Cyprus, they obtain EU status in 3-4 months. After three years, they can sell the 2 million Euro portion of the investment, retaining only one property worth 500,000 Euros as a permanent residence. Then, they can move to the UK with their EU status and enjoy all the rights of a UK citizen with simple registration. This method requires a smaller investment amount than direct investment immigration to the UK, carries less risk, and provides status more quickly. Therefore, when you invest in Cyprus and obtain status, you are effectively granted the right to live and reside in 32 countries, and you can choose a second home in Europe. For example, Cyprus law stipulates that non-EU citizens cannot purchase land or land occupied by houses exceeding 4,014 square meters.
