Portugal has rightfully won the title of "Best Value International Destination" in the poll initiated by USA Today. Portugal is an ancient country with the most authentic and rich continental charm, immigrating to Portugal allows you to find traces of the maritime empire from the 16th century Age of Discovery, experience the artistic classics of European Romanticism, walk along the fine sandy beaches, enjoy the long coastline of the Atlantic Ocean under the brilliant sunshine, savor the delicious seafood from the ocean, and linger in the myriad shops along Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon…
In addition to the well-known tourist attractions, Portugal also hides many surprising spots. Recently, a "Firestone House" was discovered on the summit of the Serra da Estrela mountains in the back of Portugal. This house is built surrounded by four massive granite boulders, resembling a stone house where primitive people might have lived.
The charm of this Firestone House lies not only in its resemblance to the stone houses in classic animated films but also in its bulletproof doors and windows, as well as a small swimming pool. This stone house, located at an altitude of 2600 feet (approximately 792 meters), was originally a family vacation spot and has now become a small museum attracting visitors.
Recently, Portuguese photographer Ricardo Oliveira Mateus who captured this small house stated that this 16.5 feet high stone house began construction in 1972 and was completed four years later. Although it is not electrified, it features a fireplace and a swimming pool carved into the massive stone, which now displays local artifacts and photographs.
