The Philippines has consistently ranked among the top in economic development within the ten ASEAN countries. The recent hosting of the 2015 APEC Leaders Summit in Manila highlights the increasing recognition of the Philippines' economic strength. Due to this economic growth, Philippine immigration projects have gradually caught the attention of investors, and immigrating to the Philippines for settling and property investment is also a good choice for overseas investment.
With rapid economic growth, the telecommunications market has also flourished, particularly with the rapid development of mobile services, which has driven the growth of the entire national economy in the Philippines. Recently, Globe Telecom, the second-largest mobile operator in the Philippines, (Globe Telecom) signed a five-year partnership agreement with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., which includes designing a mobile broadband network for Globe and establishing a mobile innovation center.
It is reported that in 2011, Huawei, as a technology partner of Globe Telecom, invested $700 million in its network modernization project (approximately 4.472 billion RMB).
On November 23 of this year, Globe Telecom's President and CEO Ernest Cu and Huawei's rotating CEO Xu Zhijun jointly signed a memorandum of understanding, marking the official establishment of a partnership between the two parties.
At the same time, Globe Telecom stated in a statement on the 25th that this cooperation will "enhance the development of mobile telecommunications networks, thereby elevating the Philippines' network to new heights and solidifying our position in the Philippine telecommunications industry."
Globe Telecom indicated that the mobile broadband network will apply "the latest technological development trends, aiming to create a wonderful digital world for customers."
Ernest stated that this cooperation will provide "a more powerful mobile network and market-oriented innovative solutions, hoping to ensure our company maintains a leading position in the thriving mobile market."
He mentioned that after cooperating with Huawei, Globe Telecom's business will expand into the fields of 3G and 4G networks, and through the deployment of LTE carrier aggregation technology, upgrade the LTE network. Plans include developing new sites, deploying small cell technology, expanding urban network coverage, upgrading the core network, and expanding the company's fiber business, etc.
He also mentioned that the growing number of smartphone users in the Philippines necessitates the urgent need to reallocate and coordinate the 700MHz spectrum originally allocated for broadcasting to fully meet their network usage demands, which will help improve the overall network speed of the country.
"We have always believed that network development should be accessible to all, not just for a few," said Ernest.
