Spanish Immigration focuses on Spanish Immigration Life: Recently, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain announced that the final construction is planned to be completed in 2026. This basilica was initiated in 1882 and has been under construction for over 130 years, and upon completion, it will become the tallest church in the world.

Compared to century-old churches, the Sagrada Familia has a history of over 130 years. Although it is still under construction, it has already been designated as a World Heritage Site, making it the only building in the world to be recognized as such before its completion. It is the most well-known tourist attraction in Barcelona, attracting over 3 million visitors from around the world each year, with ticket revenues of approximately 25 million euros.
This basilica was designed and constructed by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudí, who began the project in 1882. It was originally planned to take 2 centuries to complete, with funding primarily relying on personal donations and ticket sales. Gaudí passed away in 1926 due to an accident, but he left behind a wealth of manuscripts, materials, and architectural models, which subsequent generations have used to continue the construction according to his vision.
The current chief architect, Jordi Faulí, has stated that the Sagrada Familia project is 70% complete, with the final step being the raising of the central tower, which is expected to be completed in 2026, coinciding with the centenary of Gaudí's death.
