Vanuatu Immigration Life: November3, 2023, according to the Vanuatu Daily Post, in order to implement a strategy to reduce electricity demand, Vanuatu will promote the approval of the "Energy Efficiency Bill for Household Appliances, Equipment, and Lighting Products" by Parliament.
It is reported that currently Vanuatu has no energy efficiency requirements for imported electrical appliances, and the market is flooded with various models of imported electrical appliances. To reduce energy consumption and facilitate consumers in purchasing high-efficiency electrical products, the Department of Climate Change and Disaster Management of Vanuatu is actively promoting the approval of the "Energy Efficiency Bill for Electronic Instruments, Equipment, and Lighting Products" by Parliament. Once this bill is passed, all electrical products and lighting fixtures imported into Vanuatu must be labeled with energy efficiency labels, and high-energy-consuming electrical products and lighting fixtures will not be allowed to enter the Vanuatu market.
Vanuatu previously did not have comprehensive standards and regulations for imported electrical appliances and lighting fixtures, nor clear energy efficiency requirements. The market in Vanuatu can be seen with different brands of electrical appliances and lighting fixtures, especially light bulbs. Once the aforementioned bill is approved by the Vanuatu Parliament, there will be higher thresholds for electrical appliances and lighting fixtures exported to Vanuatu, which is worth the attention of relevant production and import-export enterprises, and corresponding contingency plans should be developed.
