Immigrate to Greece focuses on life in Greece for immigrants: According to a report by the British Daily Mail on November1, a team of underwater archaeologists from Greece and the United States announced an incredible discovery: the seabed off the coast of Fourni, Greece, contains 22 ancient shipwrecks, many of which are laden with precious artifacts.
The number of shipwrecks discovered is significant, accounting for 12% of the total known ancient shipwrecks in Greece. Moreover, these shipwrecks date back to ancient times, with over half constructed during the Archaic period, and some from Classical Greece to the late Medieval period. The vessels contained valuable artifacts, including various pottery, indicating the close trade relations between Greece and regions such as Levant, Cyprus, and Egypt.
Experts state that Fourni, as a small island in the Aegean archipelago, is located between Samos and Ikaria, making it a crucial route for trade vessels traveling between Greece and Asia Minor. The treacherous geography of Fourni, with its numerous shoals and reefs, may explain why so many ships have sunk here.
