Immigration Life in Portugal: On the 27th, Portuguese Prime Minister Costa announced the list of members of the new government, which will be sworn in on the 30th.
According to a report from Lusa, Portugal's new cabinet consists of 16 ministers, with eight members, including Deputy Prime Minister Portas, Finance Minister Albuquerque, and Foreign Minister Machete, remaining in their positions. The new government has also established new ministries of Culture, Equality and Citizenship, as well as Parliamentary Affairs.
The new government in Portugal will be sworn in at a ceremony hosted by President Silva on the 30th.
The governing coalition formed by the Social Democratic Party, led by Costa, and the People's Party, led by Deputy Prime Minister Portas, won the parliamentary elections held on the 4th, defeating the main opposition party, the Socialist Party, securing 107 seats in the parliament. However, they did not achieve a majority with 116 seats, and must therefore form a minority government.
According to the Portuguese Constitution, Costa must submit the government program to the parliament within ten days of the new government's inauguration. If the program does not receive the support of more than half of the members of parliament, the new government will face the risk of dismissal. The main opposition party, the Socialist Party, has clearly stated its intention to veto the new government's program in the parliament.
The Portuguese parliament operates on a unicameral system with a total of 230 seats, and the term of office for members is four years.
