Hong Kong Immigration focuses on Hong Kong Immigration Life: China Eastern Airlines, headquartered in Shanghai, and China Airlines from Taiwan, along with their airline alliance organization, SkyTeam, opened a VIP lounge covering an area of over 1,000 square meters at Hong Kong International Airport on the 27th.
Tang Bing, Deputy General Manager of China Eastern Airlines, believes that with the increasing economic and trade exchanges between Shanghai and other cities in mainland China and Hong Kong, the flow of passengers between mainland China and Hong Kong will continue to grow, enhancing Hong Kong's status as an aviation hub. Therefore, China Eastern Airlines and China Airlines have jointly invested in opening a VIP lounge in Hong Kong, aiming to enhance attractiveness to customers by providing personalized services.
Tang Bing also stated that, taking the Shanghai-Hong Kong route as an example, China Eastern Airlines currently operates 20 round-trip flights daily between the two locations. Despite facing competitive pressure, the average seat occupancy rate can still reach 80%, exceeding 90% during peak seasons. China Eastern Airlines plans to increase the number of flights between Shanghai and Hong Kong in the future.
Currently, China Eastern Airlines operates 228 flights to and from Hong Kong weekly, while China Airlines operates 150 to 160 flights. The VIP lounge established by both airlines offers dining options from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other regions. Tang Bing indicated that China Airlines is also keen to strengthen and expand its market presence in Hong Kong. The collaboration between China Eastern Airlines and China Airlines in opening the VIP lounge allows for cost-sharing and reduced operational risks.
As an international and regional aviation hub, Hong Kong's passenger volume reached 63.3 million in 2014. This year, this figure continues to grow, with approximately 1,100 flights operating daily between Hong Kong and destinations worldwide.
