Immigrate to Canada Focus on Canadian Immigration Education: On October 25 local time, at the 2015 "China Panda Cup" Student Video Creation Contest and Outstanding Overseas Chinese Language Teacher Awards ceremony held by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto, certificates were presented to 27 local Chinese language teachers recognized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China. The awards honor these teachers for their decades of dedication to the classroom, their commitment to educating students, and their tireless contributions to the cause of Chinese language education.
This selection of outstanding overseas Chinese language teachers was conducted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the China Overseas Exchange Association in December 2014, aiming to recognize outstanding overseas teachers who have dedicated themselves to the cause of overseas Chinese language education for a certain number of years and have made outstanding contributions. The selection categories are divided into overseas Chinese language teachers with 10, 20, and 30 or more consecutive years of teaching experience.
In the consular district of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto, covering the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba, a total of 27 teachers received awards. Among them, Cheng Xiaode, who has over 35 years of consecutive teaching experience, was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award for Overseas Chinese Language Teachers"; 5 teachers with 20 or more years of cumulative consecutive teaching experience were awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Overseas Chinese Language Teachers"; and 21 teachers with 10 or more years of cumulative consecutive teaching experience were awarded the "Excellence Award for Overseas Chinese Language Teachers." Zhang Chuanbing, Acting Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto, presented the award certificates from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council to these winning teachers.
Cheng Xiaode, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, is of Guangdong ancestry and later immigrated to Canada from Vietnam. Before arriving in Canada, she had already been engaged in Chinese language education for over 10 years. In 1979, by a stroke of luck, she began her career in Chinese language education and has continued to this day. Cheng Xiaode told reporters that she was very honored to receive this recognition, stating, "I have simply fulfilled my duty as a teacher; I love being with the children."
