Singapore immigration guide:
Singapore Changi Airport
Changi Airport currently has 5 terminals. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are connected, and travelers can move freely between these 3 terminals via the Skytrain, automated people movers, or on foot. Passengers can use the free shuttle bus at Terminal 2.
Baggage Storage: Singapore Changi Airport provides 24-hour baggage storage at Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3.
Currency Exchange: Singapore Changi Airport has 24-hour currency exchange counters at Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 that accept all major currencies.
Tax Refund: There are two tax refund agencies in each of Terminals 1, 2, 3, and the Budget Terminal. Simply spend at least 100 SGD at any affiliated shop displaying the "Tax-Free Shopping" or "Premier Tax Free" logo to receive a tax refund check/voucher from the store.
The airport features many prominent signs that clearly indicate prices, allowing foreigners unfamiliar with Singapore to know the cost of transportation to the city. This is likely unique among hundreds of cities worldwide.
MRT (Mass Rapid Transit)
The Changi Airport MRT station is located in the basement of Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 and can be accessed via escalators or direct elevators from the Arrival or Departure halls. A one-way ticket to the city center costs approximately 3 SGD (including a 1 SGD refundable deposit), and the journey takes about 27 minutes. Passengers can purchase tickets at the station platform.
Bus
Bus No. 36, which travels between the city center and the airport, stops at Terminals 1, 2, and 3. The first bus departs at 6:00 AM, and the last bus departs at midnight. A one-way fare is no more than 2 SGD, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Bus stops are located in the basement bus parking areas of Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Please have exact change ready, as no change is given on the bus.
Friendly Tips:
In Singapore, passengers board buses through the front door and exit through the back door. Payment is made upon boarding; please prepare exact change in advance as the driver does not provide change. On newer buses, simply press the red button inside the bus before your stop. If there is no red button, pull the black strap on the window or skylight to sound a "beep," and the driver will stop at the next station.
Singapore Tourist Pass: 10 SGD deposit, 8 SGD face value, valid for unlimited bus and MRT travel after 9:00 AM. The deposit must be refunded at designated MRT stations; refunds are also available at the airport.
Taxi
Taxi stands are located at the entrance of each airport terminal. The fare to the city center ranges from 18 SGD to 38 SGD, and the journey takes about 30 minutes.
In addition to the metered fare, all trips originating from the airport are subject to an additional airport surcharge.
Surcharges:
A 3 SGD airport surcharge applies on weekdays; a 5 SGD surcharge applies from 17:00 to 24:00 on Sundays.
Phone bookings and reservations also incur additional fees;
A 50% surcharge on the metered fare applies during midnight hours (0:00-6:00). These surcharges are not displayed on the meter, so you may sometimes find that the driver charges more than the amount shown on the receipt.
