Xi Jinping emphasized that next year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Greece, and bilateral relations face broad development prospects. Both sides should maintain high-level exchanges, strengthen cooperation among governments, parliaments, and political parties, and expand personnel exchanges at all levels. Both sides should adhere to mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, promote practical cooperation, and enhance cultural exchanges to consolidate traditional friendship, achieving new progress in cooperation in areas such as cultural center construction, mutual student exchanges, joint training of high-level talents, and tourism. We will continue to fully utilize the platform of the China-Greece Maritime Cooperation Year to carry out exchanges and cooperation in marine development, utilization, and protection.
When discussing the European refugee crisis, Xi Jinping emphasized that the recent refugee issues in Europe have attracted widespread attention from the international community. The root cause of the current refugee problem lies in unbalanced development and regional instability. In addition to providing humanitarian assistance to refugees, it is also necessary to effectively address poverty and social stability issues, especially to eliminate the root causes of conflict in the countries of origin of refugees. China believes that relevant European countries can unite to respond to this major challenge and properly handle related issues.
Tsipras stated that Greece values its traditional friendly relations with China, and the Greek people have friendly feelings towards the Chinese people, expressing gratitude for the valuable support provided by China to Greece. Greece has always believed that cooperation with China is of strategic significance. In the new situation, Greece is willing to continue to advance this relationship, enhance the level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, expand cooperation in agriculture, shipping, finance, investment, and marine fields, and actively participate in cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative.
