China News Service, September 28 - According to a report by Canada's Sing Tao Daily, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with residents, praising the contributions made by Chinese-Ontarians to the province and issuing a greeting wishing them a happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
In her Mid-Autumn greeting, Premier Wynne first expressed her pleasure in celebrating the festival with everyone. She noted that during the Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese people both at home and abroad are filled with joy, gathering with family and friends to celebrate the holiday, reminiscing under the moonlight, and expressing gratitude for a bountiful life.
The greeting further stated, "Eating mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival is a long-standing tradition that carries significant meaning. The round mooncake represents completeness and perfection, symbolizing families working together with one heart to create happiness. The foundation of Ontario is built upon such close-knit and harmonious family and social relationships."
Wynne stated that she wanted to take this opportunity during the Mid-Autumn Festival to thank the Chinese community in Ontario, saying, "Thank you and your families for your outstanding contributions to Ontario." She pointed out that the Chinese community in Canada is full of talent, excelling in business, the arts, academic research, politics, and countless other industries.
