Dining
Vegetable markets in Cyprus are similar to those in China, offering a variety of produce comparable to what is found domestically, including cabbage, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, zucchini, cucumbers, cilantro, green onions, ginger, and garlic. Fruit prices are quite reasonable. The market in the capital, Nicosia, is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are many Chinese restaurants in Cyprus, but they are relatively expensive, so they are rarely frequented. Conversely, famous fast-food chains such as McDonald's , KFC , Pizza Hut are found throughout Cyprus, and many Chinese students work part-time there.
There are two famous local food items: one is called "Kebab," which is essentially grilled meat served with salad in a thin flatbread; the other is called "Souvlaki," which is similar to the common meat-in-bun snacks found in Beijing. The price is generally around 1.5 Cypriot pounds. As Cyprus is a tourist destination, the catering industry is very well-developed, with restaurants featuring various cuisines from China, Japan, Italy, France, and more.
Accommodation
When first arriving in Cyprus, one will notice there are no skyscrapers; instead, the view is filled with buildings typically around 5 to 6 stories high. However, there is one feature that domestic buildings cannot match: almost all buildings over 3 stories are equipped with elevators, which is very convenient. The "affluent areas" are located in the suburbs of the capital, Nicosia, and mostly consist of two-story villas, each with a garden of varying size, and some even have swimming pools; the exteriors are quite pleasing to the eye.
Due to the sparse population of Cyprus, living space is relatively spacious, and it is easy for tourists to find properties for rent. Most local Cypriot households are very tidy. People abroad generally value peace and quiet; in comparison, the hygiene conditions of properties occupied by some tourists are poorer, and some tourists are loud, which to some extent damages the image of Chinese students. It is hoped that every Chinese person abroad will start with themselves to establish a positive image for Chinese people.
