Hong Kong Immigration Guide: It has long been said that the air conditioning in Hong Kong malls is particularly strong, which can be daunting for those of us who are especially sensitive to the cold. Fortunately, Hong Kong offers a wealth of shopping resources, with not only malls but also many unique streets to stroll through.

The districts worth exploring in Hong Kong are countless, with the more bustling areas primarily concentrated around Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Causeway Bay.

Hong Kong

Unique District No. 1: Nathan Road

Nathan Road stretches from Tsim Sha Tsui to Boundary Street in northern Kowloon, giving it a long feel. The busiest section of this street is in the direction of Jordan from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station, featuring jewelry shops (such as Chow Sang Sang, Tse Sui Luen, and Chow Tai Fook), electronics stores, and herbal medicine shops. Nathan Road is even more beautiful at night, with various neon signs dazzlingly flashing, and the bustling crowds flowing like fish.

Here, small shops are densely packed, and each store's products can leave one dazzled. The experience of hopping from one shop to another, trying out items, will surely delight every beauty enthusiast, making them exclaim: "Hong Kong is truly a paradise for women." If you have time, be sure to visit the "Trendy Zone" located at 580A Nathan Road, next to Sincere House! It is a hotspot for youth fashion, featuring various avant-garde clothing stores, classic Japanese cartoon merchandise shops, movie poster specialty stores, sneaker shops, and trendy accessory stores, making it the most crowded "shopping mall" in this district.

Transportation: Just go up from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station.

  Business Hours: 11:00 AM - 12:00 AM

Unique District No. 2: Granville Road

If you visit Hong Kong and do not go to Granville Road, it would be a regret. Why do I say this? There are three reasons. First, this small street running through the eastern part of Tsim Sha Tsui and Nathan Road is lined with numerous men's and women's fashion outlet stores, which will surely delight shoppers. The various clothing, women's accessories, and jewelry sold here are at the forefront of fashion, and the prices are not very high and negotiable. However, Hong Kong's business practices differ from those in the mainland; if your offer is significantly lower than the marked price, the shop owner will not entertain you further. Second, besides the Sasa and H2O specialty stores, the long-established "Lung Cheong Pharmacy" is a must-see. In addition to selling medicines, the most exciting aspect is that the cosmetics sold here are much cheaper than in the market, and their quality is guaranteed. You can find popular cosmetic brands such as Lancôme, SK-II, Clinique, and H2O here, but the only downside is that due to the small size of the store and its popularity, some products you want may often be out of stock. Third, the business hours here extend until midnight, which is different from the usual practice in Beijing or even Shanghai, where shopping streets close by 9 or 10 PM. Whether for a casual gathering with friends or after a meeting, coming here after all the major malls (which generally close around 9:30 PM) have shut will provide a more fulfilling experience.

Transportation: From Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station, take Exit B1, walk straight along Nathan Road, and turn right onto Granville Road.

  Business Hours: 11:00 AM - 12:00 AM

Unique District No. 3: Men's Street and Women's Street

Women's Street and Temple Street are about one station apart, both being open-air market streets that come alive after 7 PM, transforming into vibrant night markets.

Women's Street, also known as Tung Choi Street, features over 500 stalls that open in the afternoon, mostly selling various inexpensive goods, with about 50% of the items being very affordable women's products such as clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, socks, and lingerie, hence the name "Women's Street." In addition to the open-air stalls, there are small shops on both sides of the street selling daily necessities. If you can find "Qiu Kee," which has been operating here for ten years, you can buy the currently popular Vietnamese embroidered shoes and beaded shoes for just a few dozen Hong Kong dollars. It is said that even Kelly Chen has a pair of such shoes.

Temple Street is famously known as "Men's Street" in Hong Kong, where a variety of products are sold, including clothing and accessories with strong Hong Kong characteristics, electronics, toys, lighters, men's clothing and ties, suitcases, watches, antique-style art pieces, and handicrafts from various countries. There are also many tailor shops offering inexpensive jeans and suits. Here, you can also try traditional Hong Kong delicacies such as the famous stinky tofu. At night, there are many stalls offering fortune-telling and performances, making it a unique "people's night club" that you cannot miss if you want to experience the rich local flavor of Hong Kong.

Transportation: Women's Street: Exit E2 of Mong Kok MTR Station, east side of Nathan Road.

Temple Street: Exit A of Jordan MTR Station, turn right and walk straight along Jordan Road, then turn right again.

Business Hours: Around 12:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Unique District No. 4: Sports Street - Garden Street

Garden Street can be divided into two sections. The section closer to Prince Edward Road West is lined with open-air stalls selling daily clothing, daily necessities, and fruits, while the shops on both sides mainly sell local or export ready-made garments. If you want to experience the daily life of Hong Kong's small citizens, come here! In the morning around 8 or 9 AM, the eye-catching open-air stalls will all "wake up," and the bustling crowds and vibrant market atmosphere will greet you. Similar to some morning markets in Beijing, although the items here are of lower quality, the prices are naturally cheap, with children's T-shirts starting at just over 1 Hong Kong dollar, and some adult T-shirts available for 15 Hong Kong dollars for two. Backpack prices range from 19.90 Hong Kong dollars to several hundred dollars, and some clearance jewelry can be found for as low as 5 Hong Kong dollars, with VCD game software priced at 15 Hong Kong dollars each. There are also various bedding, belts, and headgear for you to choose from.

The most interesting part is the section of Garden Street near Mong Kok (cut off by Shandong Street and Yau Ma Tei Street), as it is concentrated with sports stores. You can find the most popular sportswear here. The stores sell a wide range of branded sports shoes, sports clothing, and jerseys, with many styles being quite fashionable and unique, which are hard to find in sportswear specialty stores in major cities like Beijing and Shanghai. If you have a keen eye, you might even find "limited edition" products. The brands sold here include Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Puma Sport, Lotto, Converse, and more. Additionally, many stores offer custom jersey printing and silk screen printing services, but be sure to inquire about the production time and whether they can ship internationally.

Transportation: Near Prince Edward/Mong Kok MTR Station.

  Business Hours: Open-air stalls approximately 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM, street-side shops 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM.

Unique District No. 5: Toy Street - Tai Yuen Street

Although Hong Kong is a shopping paradise for women, visiting Tai Yuen Street and seeing the dazzling array of toys will surely awaken the child in you. Mini remote-controlled cars with flashing red lights, heroic characters from "Star Wars," quirky "Salted Egg Superhero," and eye-catching "Gundam" mobile suits, Digimon, and the popular "Beyblade" fighting toys from Hong Kong television will truly dazzle you. If you love toys and have a youthful spirit, you might want to check out "Toy Mart" (Ground Floor, Shop C), "Hung Hing Toys" (Shop C, No. 19), and "Yat Sing Toys" (Shop C, No. 18) to find little treasures that can fulfill your dreams and spark your imagination!

Address: Wan Chai MTR Station, Exit A1 or A3, about a 5-minute walk.

Tip: If you have time, Stanley Market, Sham Shui Po's Changsha Road ready-made garment shops, local factory ready-made garments in the industrial buildings on Yau Ma Tei's Gansu Street, the jade market near Nathan Road, and the shops on Li Yuen Street East and West near Des Voeux Road Central are also great places to shop. As long as you have the stamina, patience, and a discerning eye, you can enjoy the fun of bargaining and leisurely shopping.
