Life for Immigrants in the United States: The Economic Policy Institute recently released a new research report stating that the salaries of CEOs in American companies have increased rapidly and are now 300 times the average salary of ordinary employees. CEOs of leading American companies each hold approximately 10% of their company's net profits.
Although some critics believe that the high salaries of CEOs result from their contribution to company profits, the report's researcher, Lawrence Mishel, disagrees. He argues that many other employees in companies also possess high skills and qualities, and that companies are simply setting CEO compensation levels too high, resulting in persistently elevated CEO salaries.
