Hong Kong Immigration and Business: Now in its 10th year, the Eco Expo Asia is one of the most influential green business platforms in the region and will be held in Hong Kong at the end of October. The expo is co-organized by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, co-organized by the Environment Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, and supported by various governments and renowned industry organizations from mainland China and around the world.

The expo features a strong lineup of exhibitors. In addition to first-time delegations and many returning companies, it will once again welcome the Japanese and Swiss pavilions, as well as local pavilions organized by the Green Council and the Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association.
Mr. Takuji Onomura, Director of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), stated: "Every year, the exhibition gathers global buyers. Beyond Hong Kong and mainland China, many buyers come from Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In 2014, our Japanese exhibitors conducted twice as many business negotiations as the previous year. We will return this year to share the latest developments in environmental business from Japanese companies with the industry."
This year, the Swiss pavilion will participate for the third consecutive year. Switzerland is committed to halving its national greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and is determined to reduce emissions across various sectors. This goal aligns with the demands of many Asian countries actively seeking environmental solutions for air quality, energy efficiency, green building, and waste management.
Ms. Rita Adam, Consul General of Switzerland, said: "Swiss companies have participated in the Eco Expo Asia for two consecutive years. Last year, they showcased solutions for energy-saving technologies, hazardous waste removal, and converting plastic waste into energy, which received an excellent response. Therefore, they plan to continue their participation this year."
In addition to numerous overseas delegations, the list of confirmed exhibitors includes many well-known international and local companies, such as Green Power Industrial, Harmony Auto, Active Air, Plasmatech, ATAL Engineering Group, Robin Energy, Synergy Group, and Volkswagen.
In its latest waste reduction strategy, Hong Kong has set a goal to reduce food waste currently sent to landfills by 40% by 2022. It has meticulously outlined a strategic framework that includes source reduction, implementation of the "polluter pays" principle, and strengthening municipal solid waste management. Simultaneously, it is urging private enterprises to participate in the construction of large-scale waste treatment facilities, including the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) treatment plant, the Sludge Treatment Facility (STF), and Organic Waste Treatment Facilities (OWTFs).
Mr. Leung Wai-kwan, Corporate Communications Manager of Baguio Green Group Limited, stated: "We participated in the Eco Expo Asia for the first time last year and were very satisfied with the results. In addition to helping us promote our corporate image, it successfully increased industry interest in us. We are committed to creating a 'green' and 'clean' environment for the community; therefore, we will promote concepts of waste management at the expo this year, especially the importance of sorting, processing, and recycling."
