Hassell discovered that when he attempted to log into his father's Xbox Live account, he could simply enter an incorrect password first, and when the password verification screen appeared for the second time, he could continuously press the spacebar to fill the password field and gain access.

When Hassell discovered the vulnerability, he shouted "Yay!" but became nervous after successfully logging in, fearing that his father would find out and also worried that others might exploit the vulnerability to steal data, so he told his father about it.
