Canadian Man Survives on Beer for 40 Days

Chris is 33 years old, a web designer, and a Christian. Although many people choose to abstain from certain foods they enjoy during Lent, this did not seem difficult for Chris, as he planned to use his favorite beverage, beer, as his primary food source for 40 days. He has been sticking to this since March 5 and is about to succeed.

Chris stated that although beer is his favorite, this has been a very challenging experience, especially during meal times. His wife said that after 40 days, he would look like a vagrant because his beard has grown so thick during this period.

During this time, Chris's three daily meals have consisted primarily of beer. He has a higher-alcohol beer for breakfast and lunch, and a 650ml beer for dinner. In addition, he has a refreshing drink every afternoon. Most of the beer he drinks is a German-style, lighter beer produced by a brewery in Toronto, Canada, which contains some nutrients sufficient to maintain his nutritional needs.

To avoid dehydration, Chris also drinks some low-concentration fruit juice daily to replenish fluids, and he has a family doctor monitoring his physical condition at all times. Chris not only enjoys drinking beer but also runs a beer-related website. Since he began his beer fast, traffic to his website has been steadily increasing.

Although he is about to complete the 40 days, Chris feels as if it has just begun. While he would like to continue, his doctor has advised against it, as it could be detrimental to his health or even fatal. The report jokingly hopes that after the 40 days, Chris's love for beer remains as strong as it was in the beginning.
