Focusing on Bissau immigration and Bissau life: An increasing number of overseas guests have appeared on the stage of "If You Are the One". These individuals, with diverse skin tones and rich personalities, have added a unique perspective to this television dating show. Among them, Debujada from Guinea-Bissau stands out in particular. What draws attention is not only her dark skin but also her prominent family background and straightforward personality. On stage, she is sometimes sharp and sometimes charming in her remarks, and she is affectionately referred to as "Little Debu". This African princess studying in China hopes to find a Chinese husband on "If You Are the One". In her words, "If I find a Chinese husband, I can stay in China and follow him wherever he goes."
When Debujada first appeared on "If You Are the One", she was teased by netizens as the "Princess of the Tortoise". Little do they know, this girl from Guinea-Bissau truly comes from a prominent family; her father is an economist, her mother is a lawyer, her grandfather is a tribal chief, and her uncle is the ambassador to China... However, Debujada rarely mentions any of this on stage. As the eldest son, her father received a Western education and resolutely gave up his inheritance. Little Debu has lived an ordinary life in the capital Bissau with her father since childhood, away from the tribe.
On stage, her unique personality has been recognized by the audience. Confident and sharp, she directly expresses differing opinions and is the type who "will not rest until she shocks you with her words". She has had intense exchanges with the hosts Huang Han and Zeng Zihang. She often stands with her hands on her hips and suddenly exclaims, "I think this and that," with a northeastern accent that makes the audience laugh. When she encounters a male guest she likes, she boldly confesses, "I want to have eight children, and I will rely on you!" When faced with some doubts, she calmly responds, "Some people ask me, aren't you Africans poor and coming to find Chinese people to support you? Please, I can support your whole family, who needs it?"
Although Debujada comes from a privileged background, she still relies on her own abilities to win a government-sponsored study abroad opportunity with excellent results. She told reporters, "In our country, we have to take an exam for government-sponsored study abroad. There were over 2,000 competitors, and I ranked first." When asked how she overcame the language barrier that troubles many international students, Debujada said, "It was quite easy." Smart and eager to learn, after studying basic Chinese, she quickly realized that learning Chinese is all about application. Thus, listening to Chinese songs, using WeChat, posting on Weibo, singing karaoke, and chatting on QQ all became great ways for her to practice Chinese. Soon, Little Debu became a "Northeastern person" with dark skin and was seen by many as a "China expert".
