The legally designated heritage site, King Yin Lane, will hold open days in September and October, allowing the public to appreciate and understand its architectural features and history.
King Yin Lane is located at 45 Stubbs Road, Hong Kong. It is a historic mansion and a building with distinctive Chinese characteristics, featuring red walls and green tiles. King Yin Lane is closely associated with two prominent families. In 1937, the building was constructed by Ms. Li Baolin, the granddaughter of the famous Hong Kong businessman Mr. Li Sheng, the daughter of Mr. Li Baozhuang, and the wife of Mr. Shen Richu. In 1978, the mansion was sold to the Chiu family—Mr. Chiu Tze Man and his son Mr. Chiu Muk Sing. The Chiu family named the mansion "King Yin Lane" to highlight the building's beautiful landscape significance. As a rare example built in the style of the Chinese Renaissance, blending excellent Chinese and Western architectural features, King Yin Lane has become a unique and outstanding architectural artwork in Hong Kong due to its distinctive Sino-Western style. The mansion has also been used as a filming location for movies, such as the 1955 Hollywood film "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing" starring William Holden, and the TV drama "Dreams of the Capital" starring Liza Wang.
The open days will take place on September 19, 20, and October 24, 25, with four visiting sessions each day: from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, and from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Admission tickets can be obtained on Saturdays and Sundays at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, the Hong Kong Park Tea Ware Museum, or the Hong Kong Museum of Culture.
