After the motion of no confidence was passed, when the Speaker of the Parliament of Vanuatu, Philip Boedoro, invited members to nominate candidates for the new Prime Minister, Carcasses and 10 members supporting him left the chamber and did not participate in the election process for the new Prime Minister.
The opposition's success in toppling the Carcasses government was due to the support of some parties within the ruling coalition. During the no-confidence vote, 17 members from the ruling coalition "defected," allowing the opposition to secure a total of 34 votes in favor. After being elected as the new Prime Minister, Natuman expressed his gratitude to the members who voted for him.
