Thousands of years of history have left Ireland with countless treasures. Whether it is natural landscapes like the Giant's Causeway and the Glendalough Valley, or cultural landmarks such as the Rock of Cashel and Down Cathedral, these are all highly acclaimed destinations. Immigrate to Ireland and enjoy a journey through time.
Rock of Cashel
For thousands of years, the Rock of Cashel has stood as a powerful fortress, rising above the plains and guarding County Tipperary. In 1647, Cromwell's troops besieged the Rock of Cashel, and since then, it has officially detached from the secular world to become a center of ecclesiastical power and a spiritual highland. Today, most of the structure remains well-preserved, attracting countless visitors every year. The most noteworthy feature within the Rock of Cashel is Cormac's Chapel, a 28-meter-high round tower built in the early 12th century without the use of mortar. It is considered a masterpiece of 12th-century Irish Romanesque architecture, perfectly interpreting the dual identity of the Rock of Cashel as both a religious center and a medieval fortress.
Giant's Causeway
In ancient legends, the Giant's Causeway was the masterpiece of the Irish warrior giant Finn McCool, created so he would not get his feet wet while walking between the coasts of Northern Ireland and Scotland. Today's geologists state that these 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns are actually the result of volcanic activity 60 million years ago and have nothing to do with giants. However, the symmetrical stone columns still feel somewhat magical. The columns descend from the rocky cliffs and disappear into the sea; the geological origins and mythological legends behind them will surely leave you lingering.
Glendalough Valley
This is a product of nature, a valley carved by glaciers and the Wicklow Mountains. A nobleman abandoned his privileged life and, inspired by religious faith, retreated into a cave; this was Saint Kevin. He was born in 498 and subsequently founded the Glendalough Monastery here. For over 900 years, like-minded disciples have come here in an endless stream to study and pray.
