On April 14, 2016, Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau Wang Hua and his wife, Lu Jianfeng, hosted a reception at the embassy for friends from the Guinea-Bissau economic and trade sectors, as well as a farewell and welcome reception for the outgoing and incoming Economic and Commercial Counselors. The event bid farewell to the outgoing Economic and Commercial Counselor, Ju Chaoqing, and welcomed the newly appointed Economic and Commercial Counselor, He Jianmin. More than 80 guests attended the event, including Guinea-Bissau's Minister of Women, Family and Social Cohesion, Mendes; Minister of Public Health, Sedi; Secretary of State for Transport and Communications, Vieira; Mayor of Bissau, Ferreira; Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo; as well as other relevant government officials, friends from the economic and trade sectors, members of the Chinese medical team and agricultural technical group in Guinea-Bissau, and representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises.
Ambassador Wang highly praised the work done by Counselor Ju over the past nearly eight years in promoting the development of China-Guinea-Bissau economic and trade relations and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese-funded enterprises. He extended a warm welcome to Counselor He and expressed his hope that Counselor He would build on past achievements to make new contributions to expanding and deepening the economic and trade relations between China and Guinea-Bissau.
In his speech, Counselor Ju reviewed his years of work in Guinea-Bissau, thanked Ambassador Wang Hua, his colleagues at the embassy, Chinese-funded enterprises, and the overseas Chinese community for their care and support, and stated that he would continue to follow the development of Chinese-funded enterprises and the Chinese community in Guinea-Bissau.
Counselor He stated that he holds deep affection for Africa and is very pleased to work in Guinea-Bissau. He expressed his willingness to work together with the local government, Chinese-funded enterprises, and the overseas Chinese community to accelerate the implementation of the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Johannesburg Summit, further strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and contribute to consolidating and deepening the relations between the two countries.
