Bissau is the capital and a port city of the African nation of Guinea-Bissau. Located on the Atlantic coast, it features a tropical marine monsoon climate. The city boasts scenery with a distinct tropical flair and holds immense tourism potential. Furthermore, the Bissau investment immigration program is one of the fastest in the world, leading many investors to consider immigrating to Bissau. Recently, at the invitation of Chinese Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau Wang Hua and his wife, the Chinese Embassy welcomed First Lady Maria Vaz.
Ms. Maria first expressed her gratitude for the invitation and support from the Chinese side, which allowed her the honor of accompanying President Vaz to the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Johannesburg Summit in December 2015. During the summit, she attended the China-Africa HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Advocacy Event, themed "Joining Hands for a Future Free of HIV/AIDS," alongside Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping, where they jointly released the "Joint Initiative for a Future Free of HIV/AIDS." Ms. Maria praised the China-Africa partnership for entering a "golden age" and expressed her expectation that, guided by the spirit of the summit, Guinea-Bissau and China would further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and strive for common development.
Ms. Maria expressed her desire to take this opportunity to extend New Year greetings to Professor Peng Liyuan and the women of China. She also thanked the Chinese Embassy in Guinea-Bissau for its active participation in the series of charity events she hosted for disabled children in Guinea-Bissau during the 2015 Christmas and 2016 New Year holidays.
