In his address, Chinese Ambassador to Dominica Li Jiangning reviewed the glorious journey of the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, from poverty and backwardness to gradual prosperity and well-being. He introduced the remarkable achievements in China's economic and social development since the birth of New China, especially since the reform and opening-up. Ambassador Li pointed out that China has now become the world's second-largest economy. Facing various development challenges, the Chinese government will further deepen reforms, adjust industrial structures, develop a green economy, promote social equity, and continue to advance toward the grand goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 70th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. As a firm defender of peace and a founding member of the United Nations, China will continue to adhere to an independent foreign policy of peace and firmly safeguard world peace, stability, and development.

Ambassador Li stated that the establishment of the "China-CELAC Forum" last year has promoted the continuous deepening of cooperation between China and Caribbean countries. China and Dominica have entered the second decade of diplomatic relations, with fruitful development and cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, agriculture, and infrastructure construction. The friendly exchanges between the two peoples have continuously deepened their friendship. This year, Dominica suffered heavy losses from Tropical Storm Erika. The Chinese government provided $300,000 in emergency humanitarian cash assistance to Dominica at the earliest opportunity to help with disaster relief efforts. The Chinese government will continue to provide assistance within its capacity according to the needs of the Dominican side and the changing disaster situation, supporting the people of Dominica in rebuilding their homes.

The reception was held in a festive and peaceful atmosphere, with promotional short films such as "China Today" and "China's Symbols" being screened. Guests engaged in enthusiastic conversations, shared stories of friendship, and expressed their beautiful visions and wishes for the future development of China-Dominica relations. English books and DVDs were also displayed at the reception to promote traditional Chinese culture, which were warmly received by the guests present.
