Bissau Immigration Life: Guinea-Bissau President Vaz issued a presidential decree on the evening of the 12th local time, approving the formation of a new government. This is the new government formed after two months of political maneuvering in the country.
In addition to the new Prime Minister Carlos Correia, the new government includes 15 ministers and 14 secretaries of state. The positions of Minister of the Interior and Minister of Natural Resources remain vacant, with Prime Minister Correia acting in those capacities.
The new Prime Minister, Correia, is the First Vice President of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), the majority party in parliament. He is a veteran of the party, has served as Prime Minister three times, and is considered a key figure in resolving the current political impasse in Guinea-Bissau.
Guinea-Bissau President Vaz signed a presidential decree on September 17 appointing Correia as the Prime Minister of the new government. However, on October 6, Vaz rejected the list of the new government submitted by Correia.
