Hong Kong immigration focus on Hong Kong immigrant life: The Hong Kong Consumer Council recently conducted spot checks on disinfectant wipes and disinfectant solutions sold in the Hong Kong market and found that the actual efficacy of some products does not match their claims, and the labeling on the packaging needs improvement.

The Hong Kong Consumer Council inspected a total of 15 disinfectant solutions and 22 types of disinfectant wipes. All 37 products were labeled with varying degrees of cleaning, disinfecting, bactericidal, or bacteriostatic efficacy, with some products even claiming to "kill 99.9% of bacteria." However, only 17 of the samples had suppliers capable of providing test reports on their disinfecting efficacy. The types of bacteria killed and the effectiveness listed in some reports were inconsistent with the product labels. The Hong Kong Consumer Council recommends that manufacturers standardize product packaging and clearly specify product ingredients and concentrations on the labels.
In addition, some of the tested samples were found to contain alcohol, with concentrations ranging from 25% to 75%. According to data from the World Health Organization, alcohol solutions with concentrations between 60% and 80% are most effective at killing bacteria. The Hong Kong Consumer Council advises consumers to avoid excessive use of alcohol-based disinfectant products to prevent the loss of sebum and moisture from the skin; if itching, rashes, or inflammation occur after use, one should stop using the product and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
