I fell in love with Vanuatu on my first visit. After successfully investing and immigrating to Vanuatu, I purchased a farm for retirement purposes. The farm is approximately 40 hectares, with relatively few trees on the west side and what can only be described as a pristine forest on the east, featuring several hundred trees with diameters exceeding one meter. To the north of the farm is an asphalt road that circles the island, providing convenient transportation. To the south is the vast ocean. During this visit, my friends and I set up tents on the farm, living there for a few days, enjoying food, drink, leisure, and fun.
We first gathered a large number of dry branches, cut down a few trees, and made a huge bonfire. We brought barbecues, gas stoves, pots, and utensils. The beef here is delicious and very cheap, grilling large pieces is particularly satisfying. When we felt thirsty, the coconut trees were too tall for us to reach. So we decided to chop one down. The farm also has countless orange and lemon trees, and steeping them produced very nice flavors.
After eating well, we took a nap in the shade of the trees, inhaling the scent of grass and listening to the birds sing. I marveled that this is what life is all about.
Labor is a necessity on the farm. I led everyone to plant nine bamboo, twelve bananas, and ten sandalwood trees. I look forward to seeing these small trees flourish one day.
We also explored the neighboring farms. The farm opposite me has a large pond with very clean water. My friends and I waded in the water to gather lotus seeds and flowers. A large fish swam quickly away beneath my feet. The farm to my west mainly cultivates coconuts, where a few cows are raised among the coconut groves. The farm to my east is quite large, raising over a thousand cows.
The ocean is not only beautiful to look at but also provides us with many ingredients. There are so many sea cucumbers that I lost interest in taking photos. I decided to take pictures of other things instead.
In the evening, the farm became filled with a sense of mystery. Looking up, the stars were dense, and I unexpectedly saw the long-lost Milky Way. At this time, the ocean had receded, and the water was very calm, with the water only a meter deep about a kilometer from the shore. When shone with a strong flashlight, various small fish would leap out of the water, creating a spectacular scene. There were also eels and crabs all over the place. The only thing that startled me was seeing a sea snake. Later, the locals told me that sea snakes are very timid and will hide at the sight of people. Moreover, sea snakes have very small mouths; unless it is a very thin part of your finger, they cannot bite at all. Regardless, I decided to keep my distance.
