These mysterious photos were taken between 1930 and 1960, uniform in style but without dates or order. The man is dressed in various outfits and displays a range of expressions; these over 450 selfies showcase his gradual aging process.
The first to discover these photos was a photography historian named Donald Lokuta. He purchased a batch of unknown antiques from a dealer in New York and found these photos inside, but he did not recognize the subject of the photos. He believes that the mysterious man may have worked at a photo booth company, and these photos might have been taken during testing.
"This man has an ordinary appearance, and all the photos are similar headshots, but that is precisely what makes them unique," Lokuta said. These over 400 photos will be exhibited for the first time at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in July.
