CNBC commentator Jim Cramer stated, "The overall ratio of retail sales is not very good. I believe that factors such as online transactions account for too large a proportion, while actual retail sales have not seen significant improvement." He believes this trend will reduce the impact of retail sales on the overall economy.

Major department store operators such as Macy's and Kohl's have recently reported relatively weak second-quarter earnings. Nordstrom will also release its earnings report later on Thursday. These companies have experienced a certain degree of decline in physical sales turnover.

U.S. brick-and-mortar retailers are facing significant pressure from online competitors. Macy's previously stated that online retailers are putting tremendous pressure on the company's turnover. In response, Jim Cramer remarked, "Brick-and-mortar retailers are currently struggling to compete with online marketers like Amazon and Wayfair."

Jim Cramer added, "Department store sales will be the next retail sector to succumb to online shopping, just as music and electronics have given way to online marketers."

Jim Cramer stated that retail sales in the United States have begun to show a trend towards online shopping, saying, "American consumers are increasingly shopping online, and they are visiting malls and specialty stores less often."
